Wheeler's Roll-er

One day the Wheelers were craving a fun day so they went to Busch Gardens on a beautiful Sunday.

So four weary Whelers and two special guests piled into a van and went off on their quest.

The Wheeler-mobile’s not a personal van but one that was rented by John, who is “the Man”.

The van parked in England, as odd as it sounds, but we were soon through the gate and onto the grounds.

Our Brazilian was skipping, so full of glee, but the van as a whole all had to pee.

Patricia had been there so many a time so she knew the rides that were worth waiting in line.

Apollo’s Chariot’s line took 45 minutes but the time went by fast and soon we were in it.

We sat in the front, at least most of us did, and once under way I held on to my lid.

A fast roller coaster is no place for a hat and for the rest of the rides on it I sat.

The next ride to try is the famous Tempesto and although it was short is was one of the best-o.

Upwards and downwards, forward and back, short as it was thrills did not lack.

Having gotten to the park so very late, the group all decided it was time that we ate.

We put the Australian in search of a beer but as a teetotaler she’s not a beer seer.

We found a place with good German eats and stood in line, selecting our meats.

Once we were fed and empty again we set out to give Alpengeist a bit of a spin.

The ride is one where the riders hang down so shoes must be secure or they may fly into town.

Unable to see because of hanging under made us all think this ride was a blunder.

Twists and shakes and neck wrenching turns made us realize we’re too old to learn

what’s safe and what’s not. By the end of the ride we were all feeling shot.

Verbolten is where you sit in a car and are flung into darkness, though not very far.

The ride is a secret so I’m not going to say other than everyone should ride it someday.

We decided to save the best for last and on the Griffon we all had a blast.

Ten wide we sat climbing up to the stop where we all faced down a precipitous drop!

Eighty-one degree drop to build speed and power until we were hurdling seventy-five miles an hour.

The ride was arguably the best of the day and we were tiring from a long day of play.

Since we were leaving we thought one water ride and the Roman Rapids seemed fit to be tried.

We waited and waited and in sight of our goal heard the ride had just broken and we might want to roll.

We waited and waited and waited some more and many of us took naps on the floor.

Finally an announcement and cheer from the crowd said the ride was repaired and the carnies were proud.

The ride was short compared to the wait an in a few minutes were we back at the gate.

After seven miles walking all day, smelly and tired we’d had enough play.

The van, once we found it, was a welcome sight and once inside many went nighty-night.

We stopped once to eat, at Chipotle this time, and experienced what would be the day’s longest line.

An hour it took before we could eat but we being Wheelers never admit defeat.

In the end the day was a grand distraction except for Alpengeist which put us in traction.

The moral I suppose is to have a good time, and above everything else make sure that it’s rhyme-able.
